painful broken ankle recovery?

3 weeks ago i broke my ankle falling down the stairs (over my daughthers Jewelry Box). I have just started to do partial weight bearing, now previous to being told i could do this i put my full weight on the ankle and got shooting pains on the bottom of my foot. Now that i am partial weightbearing i have felt the odd same pain in my foot, which deters me from carrying on and i start to hop rather than trying to walk. In 3 weeks time i have the cast off and am terrified of putting my full weight on the foot because of this pain.

I did not have surgery, im 47, and very very scared.

Is it normal to have these pains? To be honest having a c section is preferably to a broken ankle!
